Within the Industrial, Construction, and Major Projects, as a Project Manager :
Your responsabilities
Our client and its subsidiaries are seeking services of three (3) Intermediate or Senior project managers with a background in Civil or Mechanical Engineering and one (1) Intermediate or Senior project manager with a background in Electrical Engineering to join its team to support the execution of projects, subject to budget approval of planned capital projects. In particular, Project Managers will support the execution of projects on the regulated 2026 Generation capital program (Hydraulic and Thermal Generation) and the non-regulated 2026 Exploits Generation capital program and may be assigned to projects at other client locations as required.
Working as part of our client’s Project Execution Department, and reporting to the Generation/Exploits Program Manager – Project Execution, these positions shall be responsible for the execution of multi-discipline projects in the Generation (regulated) and Exploits (non-regulated) capital programs. This position will have extensive interface with Regional Operations employees, the Program Manager, Senior Managers, Project Engineers, Safety Advisors, Environmental Services Coordinators, Consultants, and other client employees as required and will provide strategic guidance and direction in order to ensure that projects executed by the department meet client’s requirements.
The duties and job functions of the Project Manager shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Complete project scope statements;
- Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements;
- Set up project work orders;
- Develop realistic schedules in conjunction with the project team to complete projects;
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scope of work;
- Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) through continual improvement and active participation in corporate HSE processes;
- Initiate and monitor all aspects of projects to ensure compliance with schedules and budgets;
- Ensure project change requests are properly evaluated and authorized;
- Ensure all approved changes are communicated to the project team and reflected in the active project budget and schedule;
- Ensure that potential impacts of project changes from cost, schedule, safety and quality/reliability perspectives are identified and communicated to stakeholders in a timely manner;
- Establish and manage project risk registers;
- Identify and respond to issues, implement timely interventions or escalate as required to ensure project outcomes comply with project plans;
- Ensure that terms of agreements or commitments are understood and fully respected;
- Ensure that work packages and developed and leveraged by the project team;
- Determine insurance requirements for projects in consultation with Hydro’s Risk and Insurance Division;
- Establish the necessary level of site presence during project execution;
- Manage the commissioning phase of the work;
- Complete monthly capital reports and accruals;
- Ensure continual improvement is nurtured through lessons learned sessions, supporting innovative approaches and communication to other project teams;
- Communicate with Operations / End User Client on a regular basis.
Your profile
- Engineering Degree (electrical, mechanical, or civil), Technologist (electrical, mechanical, or civil) or equivalent experience in project management;
- Expert knowledge of project management processes required to support project execution;
- Experience working in the utilities industry in a capital project environment is considered an asset;
- Extensive experience managing project budgets, schedules and project risks;
- Experience leading project teams, managing contractors, promoting safety culture, and adherence to industry standards;
- Has good technical writing skills and can communicate effectively with the project team and key stakeholders;
- Has kept up to date on latest construction techniques and industry trends concerning labor, equipment and material lead times;
- Strong knowledge of planning and scheduling and the development of project plans;
- A strong knowledge of Primavera;
- Proficient with MS Office Suite products;
- Valid Canadian driver's license;
- Good organizational skills and excellent communication skills;
- Autonomy, attention to detail and initiative;
- Time and priority management skills.
